“What is needed to write good SEO content. How can you get your site noticed in the search engines”
There are three things important on a webpage in order to get noticed by your customers and to score highly in the search engine ranking and that is SEO content, SEO content and SEO content. Having said that then the next question obviously is how do I know if the content is good or not. Well, the good news is that it is not rocket science. You should simply place yourself in the situation of your target customer and ask the question if they would be interested in your story. Is it written in a way that makes for easy reading with correct spelling and punctuation and with paragraphs breaking up the text into manageable pieces? This is very general advice and you can try to adhere to this when you write a page. The proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say and in this case, this means what do your customers (those people landing on the page) think about it. You can tell this by a couple of measures you can get easily from many different online tools such as Google Analytics or Adobe’s Omniture. The first is the bounce rate which if it is too high is a good indicator that your content does not reflect closely enough the keywords that the page is targeting. Customers are attracted to the page but immediately leave the site because they are not interested in the storyline. Another is the length of time customers spend on the page. The longer they spend then the more likely it is that the content interests them and they have stayed to read the whole piece. Another important thing to remember when writing SEO content is to include the keyword in the text a number of times. This tells the search engines that you consider this keyword as being important on this page and as a result, you get a better score for that keyword. If you use the keyword too many times you will find that the text does not read easily anymore and it somehow seems unnatural. A good rule of thumb is to have a keyword count of 2% of the number of words on the page. This means one in every 50 words is the keyword. But how do you know that the SEO content is good?
One way is to look at what customers are doing on the site. You can track this using free google analytics. For instance, you can track the time a user spends on a particular page and also the number of pages he/she looks at on your site. This is a good indicator of the quality of the site and the relevance of the content to the keyword that has attracted the customer to the site. Google also uses this as an indicator for the relevance so scoring well here also allows a better overall relevance and a higher ranking.
